Why This Matters to Funders

The threats facing America’s federal and state judges are documented, escalating, and largely unknown to the American public. No national campaign exists to change that. Protect Our Judges is building that campaign and we are seeking foundation partners who understand that an independent judiciary is the cornerstone of every civil right, every legal protection, and every democratic institution we depend on.

Our campaign is built around ten evergreen educational videos of sixty seconds each, designed to humanize judges and explain the essential role of an independent judiciary in accessible, compelling terms. Content themes include:

  • Judges Are Your Neighbors — humanizing judges as community members
  • The Referee Principle — explaining judicial neutrality through the lens of sports
  • What If There Were No Judges? — illustrating the consequences of judicial intimidation
  • Three Branches, One Democracy — accessible civics education on separation of powers
  • Defending Those Who Defend Justice — a call to action for civic engagement

Our paid and organic media strategy spans multiple platforms to reach Americans across age groups and media habits:

  • Facebook and Instagram — targeted ads in key congressional districts and swing states, optimized for sound-off viewing
  • TikTok — accessible civics education reaching younger voters
  • YouTube — a dedicated channel serving as our central video hub, with SEO-optimized content for organic discoverability
  • Broadcast television — strategic placement across the top 25 DMAs and swing state markets, with bipartisan cable placement on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News during news programming

Our primary audience is American voters across the political spectrum, with a focus on community-oriented citizens who value civic institutions. Our secondary audience is the legal and civic professional community, which serves as an amplification network for organic reach through bar associations, trial lawyer organizations, judicial independence groups, and civic education nonprofits.

We maintain a standing rapid response protocol for trigger events including physical threats or violence against judges, coordinated attacks on judicial decisions, and harassment campaigns. Our framework moves from assessment to deployment within 48 to 72 hours.

Protect Our Judges was founded by four longtime leaders in the legal community with court-appointed roles as Ninth Circuit Lawyer Representatives and decades of experience working alongside the federal and state judiciary. Our advisory board includes nationally recognized experts in marketing, media strategy, and film production.
